The Bouie Foundation’s Program 50 Winks mission is to help deliver the gift of sleep and study space to under-privileged children and teens in Western and Central New York State .

Founded by Roosevelt Bouie, Jr.; the program consists of custom crafting all the components of pre-designed loft beds with built-in study spaces, the packaging and transport of the unconstructed bed lofts, delivery to onsite homes and same day onsite professional and safe construction of bed lofts. There is zero cost to the family or recipients of our bespoke beds.

Who Gets A Free Bed?

Once we receive an application,

our selection committee will review it. Selection is based on which children need beds the most. Your sponsor or referral letter is very helpful.

Selecting a recipient isn’t done on a first-come, or first-served basis. Having all required documents submitted is very helpful.

We make and deliver twin XL size Loft beds as supplies and delivery times allow.  Each Bed is supplied with a  BEDGEAR®Kids Twin XL Mattress, Pillow, and Sheets. When we’re out of supplies, we file unselected applications away until we have more beds completed and additional delivery dates secured. .

Unfortunately, we can’t guarantee that every applicant will get a bed.

How to Apply for a Bed

You can apply for a bed in one of two ways:

1.As a Parent or Gaudian: To qualify as a bed recipient, you must be the legal guardian of the child or children receiving the bed. Please ensure your kids meet the below 5 requirements.

2.As a Referral:  Generally, it is through referrals that we find the families who need our beds the most.

Once we receive an application, our selection committee will review it.  Its important to remember: Selecting a recipient isn’t done on a first-come, first-served basis—we make our decisions based on which children need beds the most and who is most able to accommodate receiving our loft bed frames.

How Soon Can I get A Bed?

We provide BEDGEAR®Kids Twin XL size beds with mattress, bedding, and a pillow while supplies and donations allow.  Our all –volunteer staff includes Application Coordinators, Bed Builders, Delivery Teams and Assembly Teams. It may take up to 8 weeks before a delivery can occur.
